At Expo D23 in Anaheim on Saturday, Disney unveiled a first look at Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil in Cruella, a live performance of the villain of 1961 101 Dalmations.
The film, barred by Me, Tonya director Craig Gillespie, also stars Emma Thompson. In the Disney tweet that shares the photo, Stone appears with the characteristic hair color of Cruella, accompanied by several Dalmation dogs. His henchmen stand in the background.

The film is presented as an original story taking place in the 1980s, following a young and punk-cruel Cruella de Vil. The character, known to have kidnapped puppies and used their fur to make luxury coats, was last seen on the big screen by Glenn Close in the 1996 adaptation of 101 Dalmations.
Disney confirmed that Cruella must be released on May 28, 2021.
