There were long lines to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, but some county residents trying to get the vaccine said they were having trouble getting an appointment through the Othena registration app.
County leaders say their registration app has been overwhelmed. According to the Orange County Health Care Agency, around 10,000 people have registered overnight to make an appointment.

Some who were having trouble making an appointment even received a message saying they could no longer register. The county says it is working to resolve the issues and that more registration windows will open when the county receives more vaccines.
Residents can find more information on getting an appointment on the Othena website and download the app from the App Store.
The county is asking those who do not have an appointment not to visit the Super POD site as this will overwhelm the system and make the distribution of vaccines more difficult. Health officials warn that appointments are necessary to keep things going.
Disneyland is the first of five Super POD sites in Orange County with the capacity to immunize thousands of people every day. The other sites will be announced as their agreements are finalized.
County health officials on Tuesday opened access to vaccines for residents 65 and older, and the state is now following in the county’s footsteps.
So far, Orange County has received more than 170,000 vaccines, according to OCHA director Dr Clayton Chau. To receive more vaccines, Chau said it was essential for the county to prove to the state that Super PODS like the Disneyland site are successful and that people want the vaccine.
