DJI’s next smartphone gimbal could include a telescoping selfie stick

DJI appears to have another smartphone gimbal on the way with a telescoping selfie stick built into its grip, according to WinFuture. Osmo Mobile 5, which is an apparent successor to last year’s Osmo Mobile 4, set to debut at DJI’s September 8 launch where he would win a European prize of € 159, which roughly equates to a price including tax of $ 188.

The Osmo Mobile 5 would fold up to around 17cm (6.7 inches), but can be extended when you need to get closer to your subject or away from yourself. From the photos, it doesn’t seem to stretch as much as a traditional selfie stick, but it should be enough to give you a little more flexibility with your shots. When extended, the platform controls remain noticeably depressed by your hand. Sure, selfie sticks have a pretty terrible reputation as the accessory of choice for reckless tourists, but they’re pretty darn handy under the right circumstances.

It seems to fold up just as compactly as DJI’s existing gimbals.

Unfortunately, it seems that the telescoping mechanism built into the Osmo Mobile 5 had an impact on the battery life, which would be around 6 hours and 20 minutes compared to 15 hours for the Osmo Mobile 4. Fortunately, the Osmo Mobile 4’s magnetic mounting system has remained, which should mean it’s easier than ever to quickly attach and detach your phone from the gimbal.

Alongside the Osmo Mobile 5, WinFuture Roland Quandt also reports that there is a more affordable $ 99 version of the Osmo Mobile 4, which won’t include the original $ 149 gimbal’s magnetic mount system. Too bad of course, but it is difficult to dispute the reduction.
