They may be delicious and easy to eat, but packaged bakery products, including seemingly healthy foods like muffins, are bad for your brain health. This is because they contain trans fat.

Studies have shown a correlation between a diet high in trans fats and a lower brain volume, insufficient memory and a decline in cognitive functioning. Trans fatty acids contribute to the defective structure of the cell membrane, resulting in increased cell degeneration in your brain.

Swap trans fats for healthy fats. Use olive oil instead of butter, add a avocado to your sandwich instead of mayo and start making your own dressing instead of using the store-bought product.
