9. refined carbohydrates
You probably have them sitting in your pantry right now. Refined carbohydrates include white rice, pasta, white bread, sugar and cereals (among others). They are harmful to the health of your brain because they are absorbed very quickly into your bloodstream, resulting in a hint of sugar in the blood. And, as we have seen, there is a correlation between brain health and blood glucose.
Whole wheat carbohydrates are better than refined carbohydrates, so choose 100% whole wheat bread, rice and pasta instead of the white stuff to avoid some damage.
