Update:

The Perry County Dog Shelter will be closed for at least two weeks after a few dogs become ill.

"We only have three sick dogs, but I do not want to pass it on to anyone. We do not want anyone to come and bring him home with their dogs. We do not want to bring healthy dogs and make them sick, "said Kerrie Taylor, director of Perry County Dogs.

Dogs are quarantined, but they do not want to risk infecting other people. Taylor says that they have been affected by the disease in recent months.

"The kennel cough was really bad this winter. I think it's a kennel cough tie, "Taylor said.

They now preventively treat the 40 dogs in the shelter to make sure they do not get sick, but until the vet gives the go-ahead, no one will be allowed to enter.

They usually see 10 to 15 people a day in the shelter trying to adopt new best friends.

"We arrested several people who wanted to come in and said sorry, no, not now," Taylor said.

The manager said he was under a lot of bleach and paper towels, so if you want to help, you can donate cleaning supplies.
