DURHAM, N.H. (WCAX) A warning for dog owners: researchers at the University of New Hampshire have discovered a new strain of canine distemper that appears in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Until now, this strain of tempera has only been found in wild animals and has yet to make the leap in domestic dogs in our area.

But health officials warned that the virus was very contagious and reminded people to vaccinate their animals.
