The electoral college is due to meet on December 14, when voters nominated by each state will vote for the winner of the state’s presidential ballot. Votes are officially counted by Congress on January 6.
Some Republicans have suggested they could ignore the popular vote and nominate pro-Trump voters to change the outcome in some states, raising fears the president will refuse to step down.
