Douglas County reports 680 new cases, 14 deaths

(WOWT) – Here is a summary of the new cases and other statistics of COVID-19 reported today by health officials in Nebraska and Iowa.

The Douglas County Health Department reported 680 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The new community total is 34,648 positive cases.

Fourteen new deaths were also reported on Friday: a man and woman in their sixties and seven men and five women over the age of 75 have died. The community total is now 295.

The most recent recovery report is 17,666.

The health department also reported updated hospitalization figures today. Currently, 81% of medical beds are occupied, leaving 281 beds available. ICU beds are 80% occupied, with 66 beds available. In addition, 421 hospitalized patients were also diagnosed with COVID-19; 117 were in intensive care units and 47 other patients are awaiting test results to confirm whether they are positive for the virus.
