TL; DR

  • Microsoft has quietly re-released the Windows 11 PC Health Check app.
  • The app is designed to let current Windows 10 PC users know if their laptop or desktop is upgradeable to Windows 11.
  • The app’s release comes just two weeks before the official launch of Windows 11.

The app is apparently available for anyone who wants to download and use it, according to XDA-Developers. Microsoft previously released a version of the app for members of its Windows Insiders testing issue earlier this summer, but then withdrew it from circulation. There are three versions of the app that you can download: one for 64-bit Windows PCs, one for 32-bit Windows PCs and ARM-based PCs, and finally one for Windows 10 for S mode PCs.

The app will tell you if your Windows 10 PC’s processor, graphics card, and other hardware is compatible with updating to Windows 11. Microsoft has previously stated that users will need to have at least an 8th-grade Intel processor. generation (or a handful of 7th generation models), or an AMD Zen 2 processor inside your PC to update to Windows 11 via the standard Windows online update method. It will also need at least 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Finally, it must support UEFI Secure Boot and TPM 2.0.

Microsoft has previously stated that if your PC’s processor does not technically support the upgrade, you can still force it to accept Windows 11 by installing it through an ISO file. It must have a 64-bit processor (no 32-bit processor allowed) with a clock speed of at least 1 GHz, as well as 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
