ATLANTA – The Georgia Ministry of Health is investigating three confirmed cases of legionellosis in a downtown Atlanta hotel.
Channel 2 Action News learned that the Sheraton Hotel was closed until further notice.
A number of guests complained of lung problems after a convention two weeks ago.
"It's worrying, nobody wants to go on vacation and get sick again," said Marilyn Wilson, who made her reservation at the hotel several months ago for her family's reunion.
Legionnaires' disease is a type of lung infection caused by a bacteria living in hot water. You get it by breathing the affected water droplets and there are many ways to be exposed.

Lori Wilson, anchor of Channel 2 Cherie Drenzek, an epidemiologist, asked questions about the state investigation.
"The shower heads, the hot tubs, maybe even some outbreaks in the past have been associated with decorative fountains," said Drenzek.
The state collaborates with the Fulton County Health Council, the hotel and environmental specialists.
"They have a nice pool and it's closed right now. They say that they are working on the filtration system. Maybe they did not make the connection, "said Drenzek.
