Dr Fauci says he supports the mandate of the COVID vaccine for children

Dr Anthony Fauci said he was in favor of COVID-19 vaccination mandates in schools, weeks before the expected vaccine approval for children aged 5 to 11.

Children under 12 are not yet eligible to be bitten, but federal regulators are likely to approve Pfizer-BioNTech for use in children 5 and older as early as October, Fauci said Monday.

“I know there is a lot of hindsight against warrants,” White House chief medical adviser told Hallie Jackson of MSNBC. “But, I think we are in such an emergency with the 150,000 cases we have every day.”

Fauci, who has become a prime target of anti-mandate and anti-vaccination mobs, rebuffed his criticism and said his position needed to be put in context.

“People think that asking children to get vaccinated is a very new thing – it isn’t,” Fauci said. “Right now, if you want to go to many schools – most public schools – you have to be vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella, polio, hepatitis.

“So it’s nothing new,” he continued. “So when you hear, will I be in favor of the warrant?” In fact, I would – but it’s taken out of context, as if I’m trying to impose a new, new restriction on someone, to take away their rights. “

Fauci said approval for the vaccine in young children can come before November – although he hesitated when Jackson asked if he expected an OK before Halloween.

“You’re trying to get me in trouble by setting a date,” Fauci said after a laugh. “I think there’s a very good chance it’s before Halloween.”

Jackson insisted to the doctor if he was “confident enough” that the vaccine would be approved by that date.

“It depends on what you mean by fairly confident – I think there’s a good chance that you are,” he said.

Many schools have already imposed mandates on staff with mixed results.

The New York City Department of Education had more than 28,000 employees who had not been vaccinated on Tuesday – as the September 27 deadline looms. According to the DOE, only 78 percent of all staff and 87 percent of teachers in the city have been vaccinated.
