The madness of March is not the only game to provoke a frenzy this month.

The Powerball jackpot continues to climb after no one tied the six numbers of Saturday's draw.

The jackpot for Wednesday's draw is now estimated at $ 550 million. According to lottery officials, this is the eighth Powerball award in history.

The winner can choose to receive the prize in the form of an annuity payment or choose the lump sum option, which is $ 335 million before taxes.

The lottery craze swept the country at the end of last year when the Mega Millions grand prize reached $ 1.537 billion. The only winner, a woman from South Carolina, anonymously claimed the award earlier this month.

Despite its size, last year Mega Millions was not the biggest jackpot in the history of the lottery. In 2016, noteholders in three states shared a Powerball jackpot of nearly $ 1.6 billion.

Powerball's numbers in the draw on Saturday, March 16th were: 30, 34, 39, 53 and 67, and Powerball 11.

Powerball draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday.

Powerball sales end at 21:58 EDT in Indiana. Check with your local lottery for deadlines.

How much does the Powerball ticket cost?

Powerball tickets cost $ 2 each. Tack on Power Play for $ 1 and your winnings other than jackpots could be multiplied up to five times. Players can multiply by 10 the unearned winnings when the jackpot is under $ 150 million.

How to play Powerball

Select six numbers in two separate groups of digits. Choose five different numbers from 1 to 69. Then choose a number from 1 to 26 for Powerball.

There are nine ways to win, six of which require good Powerball. Players can match three, four or five numbers without the Powerball and also win.

Chances of winning Powerball

About a ticket on 24.87 sold on Powerball is a winner. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338.
