If the Golden State Warriors are to retool the roster around Stephen Curry this offseason, they have plenty of options available to them – in the 2021 NBA Draft and via trade. Draymond Green, for his part, is excited to see what his team will be up to over the next few weeks.

Green spoke to reporters during Team USA practice and touched on the Warriors’ impending decisions. Without being too specific, the all-star striker first mentioned the next draft.

“I think we are in a great position,” said Green, via Athletic’s Anthony Slater. “There are several ways to do it. Ultimately, it is not my decision. But I try to help in these decisions, and I will continue to do so.

Green said that despite being halfway around the world in Tokyo, he plans to zoom in to help with the pre-draft process. He didn’t want to be too specific about the outlook he liked so far, as he “has already been fined for tampering.”

Overall, Green leads the 2021 class, but noted that the Warriors could focus on the commercial market as well.

“There is definitely some very good talent in this draft,” he said. “There are also some good talent in this league. Then we’ll see what happens.

Through their 2020 trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Warriors acquired what amounted to the No.2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft (James Wiseman) and No.7 pick in this year’s draft. They also have choice # 14.

They can sign and trade Kelly Oubre Jr. and use Andrew Wiggins’ contract to match a lot of money in a deal.

Golden State finished 39-33 and lost the play-in game to the Los Angeles Lakers, although the squad was formed before Thompson tore his Achilles just before the season.

With Thompson (finally) set to return in 2021-2022, Golden State general manager Bob Myers and head coach Steve Kerr will have to decide whether to take it over for the most part and improve the supporting cast or transform. a combination of one-star trading tokens, possibly named Damian Lillard.

Luka Doncic, Dirk Nowitzki, Mavs
