The stars of DC FanDome have heavily teased the upcoming superhero event over the past few weeks. Those promoting the Comic Book Event of the Year (sorry SDCC) include Dwayne Johnson – AKA The Rock – who will play Black Adam on screens.
Speaking to Instagram, Johnson uploaded a video that sees the camera slowly moving down a hallway before * FLASH * Black Adam crashes. It’s an almost flashing moment and you miss it, but it’s a tantalizing look at what’s to come.
“The hierarchy of power in DC UNIVERSE is about to change,” Johnson writes alongside the video. “Black Adam is coming to #DCFanDome tomorrow. Personally, I salute my partners Warner Bros. and DC for creating this historic opportunity for fans to absorb our entire DC universe as we all continue to deal with the challenges of COVID. Good game. The man in black comes to crush them all.
Johnson first confirmed that a Black Adam movie was on its way back in November last year, but the actor has been linked to the role for years. In fact, Total Film first reported on the casting in 2014 when Johnson tweeted, “Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot.” “My honor to become … Black Adam.
There were rumors at the time that Johnson could play Captain Marvel, AKA Shazam, but instead this character was brought to life by Zachary Levi.
Black Adam is expected to hit theaters on December 22, 2021, although that date may change. Filming was due to start in July, but was postponed due to the coronavirus. We’ll have more news on the movie at DC FanDome – here’s how to watch the event.
