Dwight Howard Answers Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O 'Neal's Tweets

After the injury of DeMarcus Cousins, the Los Angeles Lakers developed potential replacement options and signed a one-year contract with Dwight Howard.

Six seasons after Howard signed with the Houston Rockets in the NBA in 2013, there was heated debate about his return – and rightly so. In addition to what happened in Howard's only season with the Lakers, he played for four different teams and was suspended twice.

While Howard's willingness to accept a lesser role and a presence in the locker room is causing concern, the 33-year-old has said all the good things so far. However, the Lakers and their fans will judge him according to his actions.

In perhaps his last chance in the NBA, Howard was at the center of Kobe Bryant's brief beef and Shaquille O-Neal. After Bryant thought he could have won 12 championships if O'Neal was not lazy, he made a joke about Howard.

Given the history between these three players, it would have been easy for Howard to fight against Bryant and O'Neal. However, he decided to take the high road when he was asked about it during his conference call.

"I did not know it until the day it came to my attention when I was on Instagram," Howard said. "Shaq and Kobe are some of the greatest players ever to play basketball. I only have love and respect. "

Howard having handled this last situation well, he revealed how important this off season was for him as an individual.

"This summer has been very important to me as an individual. I've had the chance to isolate – not people – but just isolate myself, really trying to stay alone, to become one with myself, to become more balanced Howard told the media.

"I just thought it was really important to me."

For Howard, his second trip to Los Angeles will be very different from his first. After being initially considered the next face of the Lakers after Bryant's retirement, Howard's role will be to bounce back and defend at a high level.

Although Howard is likely to be a future Hall of Fame member since his eight seasons at the Orlando Magic, the way the media and fans envision his career may change quickly if he can help the Lakers win a championship as part of the a history of redemption.
