Dwight Howard gets honest about egos in LA camp

There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers has one of the most talented teams in the entire NBA heading into the 2021-22 season. Still, despite being some of the biggest names in the league on their squad, the success of the next campaign is anything but guaranteed.

This is a completely new side of the Lakers and the chemistry between its multitude of stars is potentially going to be an issue. Veteran big man Dwight Howard has opened up on how he thinks LA intends to overcome this hurdle before what’s going to be a championship-or-bust season (h / t #Lakers Hoops on Twitter):

“Bruh, we’ve played AAU and basketball all of our lives,” said the Lakers great man. “We are trying to win. There is no ego. No one goes there alone.

It’s clear Howard thinks egos won’t get in the way of the Lakers this coming season. There are a handful of alphas on the squad who will be playing with each other for the first time in their careers, and while it’s quite possible that everything will fall into place, we also can’t rule out the possibility of complete chaos in their ranks.

Howard has none of that, however. The eight-time All-Star knows the role he needs to play for the Lakers and he firmly believes that everyone else on the squad has a similar mindset.
