One thing that Philadelphia Eagles fans can be thankful for this Thanksgiving? The Dallas Cowboys embarrass themselves in front of a national audience.
The Cowboys are now 3-8 after losing to Washington football on Thursday night, 41-16.
The downside to Washington’s victory – assuming you still want the Eagles to actually qualify for the playoffs – is that it knocked Philly out of the NFC East first place. Let’s take a look at the updated leaderboard:
1) Washington Soccer Team: 4-7
2) Philadelphia Eagles: 3-6-1
3) New York Giants: 3-7
4) Dallas Cowboys: 3-8
Washington’s advance may not last very long. The Giants are six-point favorites against the Cincinnati Bengals, who will start Brandon Allen as quarterback on Sunday. With a win, the G-Men will move to the top of the division as they have a head-to-head tiebreaker on the football team.
The Eagles can then regain their top spot by beating the Seattle Seahawks in Monday Night Football! But it’s pretty hard to believe it’s going to happen.
Here’s what I expect from the division standings after week 12:
1) New York Giants: 4-7
2) Washington Soccer Team: 4-7
3) Philadelphia Eagles: 3-7-1
4) Dallas Cowboys: 3-8
With the Eagles looking as bad as they are, there’s a good chance they’ll never lead the NFC East again this season. An overview of the remaining hours for week 13 on:
NFC East schedules remaining
The week | Eagles | Cowboys | giants | Football team |
---|---|---|---|---|
The week | Eagles | Cowboys | giants | Football team |
Week 13 | at Packers (7-3) | to the Ravens (6-4) | at Seahawks (7-3) | at Steelers (10-0) |
Week 14 | against Saints (8-2) | to the Bengals (2-7-1) | vs. Cardinals (6-4) | against 49ers (4-6) |
Week 15 | at Cardinals (6-4) | against 49ers (4-6) | vs. Browns (7-3) | at Seahawks (7-3) |
Week 16 | at Cowboys (3-8) | vs. Eagles (3-6-1) | to the Ravens (6-4) | vs. Panthers (4-7) |
Week 17 | against the football team (4-7) | at Giants (3-7) | vs. Cowboys (3-8) | to the Eagles (3-6-1) |
We’ll see how the Giants move forward, but I could see Washington beat San Francisco and Carolina to set up a potential NFC East scenario at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 17. A win for the football team in this game could also move the Eagles to last place, which would likely prompt Jeffrey Lurie to make some serious changes this offseason.
