Eagles vs. 49ers Week 2

The Philadelphia Eagles should not beat the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers are more talented. A Week 1 on the Atlanta Falcons doesn’t prove the Eagles are good enough to beat a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

But… what if the perceptions about the 2021 Eagles were wrong? What if the birds really are Well?

It’s possible. Of course, the Falcons could be really bad. But good teams beat less competition and that’s exactly what Philly did in Atlanta.

We’ve seen enough to learn that the Eagles aren’t a bad team. But are they good?

Again, it is possible. Whether it’s good practice, good quarterback play, or dominance in the trenches, the Birds have a recipe for success.

Maybe that optimism will sound silly if / when the 49ers give the Eagles some reality check. Until then, though, why would anyone go against the good vibes the Birds have for them right now?

And I promise I’m not just a Nick Sirianni level pimp here, but the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field is going to be absolutely insane. The first full game to return to the Linc since January 2020? With a chance to go 2-0? The fans are going to bring the juice and that can only help.

The Eagles offense will be able to take advantage of a smashed 49ers defense. DeVonta Smith is going to feast on a secondary to get.

The Eagles’ defense might struggle to completely stop Kyle Shanahan’s offense. But their defensive line gives them a chance to slow down the 49ers’ offense.

All in all, the feeling here is that it’s going to be a good game. And it will be an Eagles victory.
