The figures of José, the manger, the three wise men, a donkey and a donkey, made of metal structures anchored to concrete foundations and illuminated by thousands of lights, accompany the Virgin of Legarda, permanent monument of the city that crowns bagel.
The Virgin, with a height of 45 meters and Jose of 40 meters, are the highest structures of composition distributed along the plain of the hill, emblematic elevation which was at the time a sacred site of the Incas.
The Virgo is a giant aluminum sculpture made in 1975 by the Austro-American Herrán Matorras' Aspagnol, inspired by the statuette of Legarda, one of the most important representatives of the Quito School of the XVII century. century.
On one of the sides of the Virgin is today the image of Jose, wearing a coat of red and yellow lights and wearing a white halo that covers his head, lit by a LED light.
On the other side of the virgin, the three wise men seem to climb the mountain to join the manger, where they wait for a donkey and a cow for the birth of Jesus.
The lights of the houses of El Panecillo configure the scene that reflects the essence of the Christmas season.
