NEWELL – Edith Taylor, 89, of Newell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 13, 2021.
Born in Newell, WV on May 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Inez (Eddie) Shenton.
Edith retired after working 25 years at Homer Laughlin China Company; she was a member of Union GMPPAW # 419 and AARP. Edith was a very dedicated, loyal and hardworking member of the Newell Lions Club.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, John Taylor; and a sister, Esther Lamp.
His devoted daughters, Joyce (Richard) Pope of Newell and Susan (Kenneth) Roberts of Lisbon, survive; a loving granddaughter, Amy (Chris) Johnston of Newell; three devoted grandsons, Scott (Stephanie) Roberts, Waid (Judy) Cosgray and John (Stephanie Lang) Pope of Morgantown; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Rachel, Tyler, Zackery, Catherine, William and Charlie; one sister, Mary Lou Krzeczowski of Chester, also by nieces and nephews.
Visitations will be on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Nixon Funeral Home, Newell, WV, where the funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021.
Interment will be held at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell, WV.
