When Arrow finishes next season, he will have already lost one of his main players. Emily Bett Rickards, who has been playing Felicity Smoak since season 1, would have left the series at the end of season 7.
Rickards made the announcement herself on Instagram saying, "Felicity and I are two very tight, but after one to seven years, we'll say goodbye." This will leave the last 10 episodes of season 8 without the character, who happens to be the wife of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), mother of his child and – essentially – the brain of the operation Team Arrow.
What remains to be seen is how Felicity will come out of the series. Throughout season 7, a very advanced scenario has shown that she is still alive in years, running under the calculator nicknamed by her father. It is quite possible that she and her unborn child will be hiding before season 8, as Green Arrow gets ready for his last fight.
Let's hope that the last 10 episodes of the series will devote some time to the different characters facing the loss of Felicity, whatever the cause. Given her status as a member of the original Arrow team and the incredibly valuable role she plays in the operations of the current team, her presence will be missed.
