Eminem is ‘Tone Deaf’ to Gen Z’s cancellation culture in new video

Eminem started following the trend this week when several Gen Z creators on TikTok attempted to cancel the Detroit rapper over controversial lyrics. The wordmaker shared the new lyric video for his song “Tone Deaf” on Friday, appearing to be speaking to his young opponents.

“I won’t stop even if my hair turns gray (I’m deaf) / Because they won’t stop until they cancel me,” the song hook read.

Em continues to jokingly blame his alter-ego, Slim Shady, for his most outrageous bars while claiming that he will never change his art due to public pressure. Supporters who grew up on the MC also came to his defense.

“Cancel the target crop Eminem… good luck with that.” I’m sure ppl has been trying to undo it since “My Name Is” stumbled across MTV. It’s hilarious,” wrote a fan, with another addition: “Gen Z is trying to undo eminem?” For controversial lyrics? Bro, his music is so old. He made his music, leave the man alone. You all want to blame it on controversial lyrics, but you’re not talking about just anyone else. What about tekashi 69? You all have to cancel it.

Young TikTokers have problem with several of the artist’s past songs, including Rihanna’s collaboration, “Love the Way You Lie,” arguing that she glorifies toxic relationships and domestic violence.
