Tulsa health officials said there are currently no intensive care beds available in Tulsa city. The shortage comes as COVID-19 cases soar across the state and hospitalizations increase.
According to an EMSA spokesperson, the number of available beds could change quickly, adding that not all of the city’s intensive care beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients.
Overnight, Tulsa Mayor GT Bynum said in a statement “listen to these medical professionals calling for action to be taken to slow the spread of this virus. Politically timely rhetoric about freedom and personal responsibility does not prevent our intensive care units from being at their peak.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt is scheduled to hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the growing number of cases statewide, and Tulsa city officials will hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
