Epic Games Store Is Making Two Massive Obsidian RPGs Free Next Week

Next week, the Epic Games Store will offer Tyranny and Pillars of Eternity, two very massive Obsidian RPGs, at no cost.

Epic Games Store will offer two great Obsidian RPGs for free next week, in the form of Tyranny and pillars of Eternity. The Epic Games Store has long offered free games on a weekly basis in order to increase the circulation and compete with its main competitor Steam. These titles are not cheap throwaway games either; some truly prestigious games have been offered for free on the Epic Games Store. Back in May, the store even offered Grand Theft Auto Five, gaining so much attention that it was forced offline due to the high traffic.

Now, the showcase has set its sights on Obsidian RPGs for its marketing gimmicks, and it’s easy to see why. Obsidian is famous for its RPGs; Fans have praised the developer’s finely tuned character progression systems and their deep worlds which are heavily influenced by player choice. The company is responsible for flagship titles such as Fallout: New Vegas, what many fans of the franchise agree is the best entry in the series. Last year he also released a dystopian space RPG The outer worlds, and an epic fantasy RPG called Declared is on the horizon, which is already assumed to be a major competitor Old scrolls franchise.

But as prestigious as these titles are, they are far from being the only role-playing games offered by Obsidian. The Epic Games store will feature two more Obsidian RPGs next week, completely free to the consumer. One of these RPGs is Tyranny, an isometric RPG that places the player as the performer of an evil lord who has already successfully taken over the world. This strange role reversal results in a dark world full of morally questionable decisions with very profound consequences. The other game, pillars of Eternity, is a bit more conventional title and should be of interest to people who are excited about Declared, because it takes place in the same universe as the next title. Both pillars of Eternity and its hit sequel should be a great way for fans to familiarize themselves with the universe in time to Declaredthe Liberation.

Obsidian has produced some great content recently and shows no signs of slowing down. In addition to Declared and ongoing content updates for its Early Access Survival Crafting Game Grounded, the studio already appears to be working on another new game that fans are still not sure about. Only time will tell what this new game might be or when fans can enjoy it for themselves.

Both Tyranny and pillars of Eternity were well evaluated when they arrived in the markets. They’re both a bit past their prime, having released in 2016 and 2015 respectively, which is probably why Epic is able to offer them for free. But they’re great examples of Obsidian’s game design principles, and any self-respecting PC RPG fan would be a fool not to grab them for free from the Epic Games Store.
