Upon entering the Plains of Eidolon, the first time was a surrealist experience. For years, Warframe players rushed to the claustrophobic corridors of extraterrestrial spaceships. Last year, the Eidolon plains abandoned all this, taking the kinetic sword and Warframe shotgun fight into wide open spaces. Now the developer Digital Extremes goes even further. At a presentation at TennoCon in Ontario, Canada this weekend, Warframe fans were treated to a 20-minute demo of the new open Venus area called Orb Vallis, and this already seems like an improvement major on the Eidolon Plains. the Auburn hills and slightly monotonous Plains. Orb Vallis is a beautiful exotic landscape covered with a light layer of snow, giant mushrooms, a sea-like flora and huge robot robots that climb on its mountains (yes, they will attack you). It is five times larger than the plains of Eidolon (about 5 square kilometers) and already feels much more alive. It's a vast space where groups of four players can explore, complete bonuses, fish, mine and fight
Orb Vallis is the central element of Fortuna's expansion of Warframe, which will arrive later this year. Living in this terraformed version of Venus is the Solaris United, a bizarre breed of half-human half-robot slaves who fight for freedom against their Corpus lords. It's a premise ringing the cliché that Warframe adds its own odd twist as evidenced by the opening cinematic featuring a string group that hums a solemn air as they work. It is a people so indebted that he had to mortgage his partially mechanical Corpus Corpus.
The new hub is the underground city called simply Debt-Internment Colony where players will search for quests, buy the news from Fortuna. tools, and set up more pieces of the esoteric tradition of Warframe. Similar to the Plains of Eidolon, there is a new weaponry system, but instead of melee, Zaws players will forge Kit guns that will fill your secondary weapon slot. .
However, Orb Vallis will work in the same way as Plains of Eidolon. For the most part, this means completing a rotating list of premiums or farm equipment for various uses. The bonus system has been greatly improved: now, Solaris United agents will appear on the bases you release on the map so that you can jump more easily from one bonus to the other.
Harpoon fishing is two activities that will take place directly between the Plains and Venus. But a really cool novelty is a one-of-a-kind animal preservation system where players search for and capture endangered animals for re-housing in safer environments. It stays in tune with the often bizarre features of Warframe (it's a game where you have a weapon that shoots the music you create in a synthesizer).
What I like most is the way he is involved. While exploring Orb Vallis, you might encounter traces in the wilderness that you can follow. If you have the proper lure, you can make animal calls to try to attract the beast. It's a mini-game call and weird response where the animal will make a specific noise that players will have to imitate. It's hard to explain, but creative director Steve Sinclair said that he was strongly inspired by hunters who used moose. The animal will make a certain sequence of noises that players will then recreate using a user interface element that simulates different steps. It's weird, so look at Twitch's livestream to see it in action.
Once the animal is attracted, you will then have to find a place to hide until it is exposed and then you will film it with a tranquilizer. Animals have different rarities that depend in part on the success with which you will recreate their call, rarer animals offering more reputation to Solaris. Once the beast is knocked out, you can extract it with a drone in a manner reminiscent of many Metal Gear Solid 5
No everything living on Venus is friendly, however. The corpus databases are scattered throughout the area, but an even greater threat is the giant robots "Orb Layers" who trample. Like mbadive and titled Eidolons, they are essentially end – of – game bosses that players will have to avoid at first. What's cool, though, is that these giant spider tanks are not confined to anyone's space and can be seen constantly climbing mountains far and wide.
In this sense, Fortuna has the impression of sharing a similar structure to that of the Eidolon Plains. Players will cultivate gear, complete bonuses, and eventually form groups to hunt and kill powerful end-game bosses for powerful loot. I just hope that unlike the Plains of Eidolon, Fortuna will not be as compartmentalized the rest of the game . Still, Orb Vallis looks like a promising and ambitious update coming from Plains of Eidolon, which was in itself an ambitious update.
In speaking with Sinclair, he was also able to confirm that many of Fortuna's innovations will be applied retroactively to the Eidolon Plains. The new bonus system, K-drive hoverboards, and potentially even animal conservation minigame will all be added to the Eidolon Plains at a later date.
I will continue our coverage as more details emerge from TennoCon. attend the whole weekend.
