SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Authorities arrested more than three dozen protesters and cleared a camp outside the San Francisco Customs and Immigration offices early Monday morning.
San Francisco police moved collectors handcuffs and garbage shortly after midnight. A total of 39 people were arrested.
For a week, protesters from "Occupy ICE" blocked Washington Street between Battery and Sansome. Police said they were facilitating peaceful protests.
"Frequent warnings were sent to camp participants during the past week," police spokeswoman Grace Gatpandan said. The closure of this block also prevented the pbadage of traffic and emergency vehicles across this corridor, "said Gatpandan.

Several protesters reported being injured during the raid

Immigration officials said in a written statement: "ICE, in collaboration with our federal counterparts, continues to monitor the situation and make the necessary changes to ensure the resumption of operations."
The 39 arrested were charged with public housing, while 10 were also charged with resisting arrest. Thirty-one of the protesters come from the Bay Area.
