RIYADH: The General Authority of Tourism and Heritage of Saudi Arabia recorded 43 archaeological sites throughout the Kingdom during the quarter section of this year.
Of the registered sites, 26 are located in the holy city of Mecca. the governorate of Al-Taif, and two archaeological sites in the governorate of Al-Jamoom,
It also includes nine in the Assir region, including a site in the city of Bel Qarn, in the south of Saudi Arabia, and a site on the site of Shefa Saad and several others in Wadi Ne & Am in the governorate of Tathleeth.
The Kingdom announced the registration of 32 archaeological sites during the first quarter of 2018.
The authority also launched the establishment of the electronic register for the documentation of archaeological sites and in the Kingdom.
It allows to record their details electronically so that they can be protected and developed. Thanks to this important national project, the Authority has managed to register up to now 8268 archaeological sites in the different regions of the Kingdom.
