The BlackBerry KEY2, like its predecessor, is a strange phone. It does not look like most other Android devices, with its hardware keyboard and 3: 2 square screen. We had a lot of small problems with the phone during the exam, but if this unusual form factor you really speaks, it is easy to forget a lot of these weaknesses. What was more difficult to live was the $ 650 price tag. Fortunately, it seems like we are about to get a more affordable alternative, as some recently released FCC documents reveal the BlackBerry KEY2 LE.
Rumors of a more economical alternative to KEY2 have been circulating for a few weeks, speaking of a phone that looks and feels almost exactly like the existing KEY2, but downgrading some internal components to reduce the costs of manufacturing – reducing the limit of 6 GB of RAM is an option, or perhaps bringing back storage to 32 GB. [19659003] While some leaks were supposed to show the new hardware, the name of the device was still in the air – would it be something like the KEY2 Lite? Earlier this week, the FCC began publishing TCL's certification documents for a new BlackBerry phone that appeared to be the model in question. Yesterday, the smoking gun arrived, with the publication of the label you see here, clearly identifying the handset as the KEY2 LE.
Limited Edition? Lite Edition? Our interpretation is still in the air, but the name LE is now as good as it is official. In addition to this news about the name, we also have a new look at the phone itself:
