A man, snakes and a dog die when a fire tears up a hoarder's house in Sydney, Australia

A 50-year-old man died after being found unconscious when a fire broke out in his home.

Four more people were transported to the hospital after the fire of the two-story Putney property in northwestern Sydney

Domestic animals including a dog and snakes were also found dead inside the house.

Emergency services including 30 firefighters were called to the fire at 3:50 am on Saturday morning, police said in a statement.

A firefighter was treated for exhaustion and three neighbors were treated for smoke inhalation.

A New South Wales Fire and Rescue spokesman said the fire was largely in the basement, but the resident was found unconscious on the upper levels of the house

FRNSW were facing "A whole range of security measures". he said.

"Unusually high levels of stored household materials have definitely prevented the resident from escaping from home, which could be described as a hoarder's residence since it was filled with piles of various items. the building, and prevented the firefighters from being able to find the resident, "he said.

NSW police say they have established a "crime scene" on the property and will prepare a report for the coroner.

Sam Manafikhi, a neighbor, told Nine News that he was saddened and overwhelmed by the fire.

"I saw everyone, police, firefighters all around. I did not know what was going on, he said.

"It's really sad to hear that and I hope everyone is fine."
