Accreditation of the new Ambassador of Seychelles to Ireland

Ambbadador Derick Ally presented his credentials as a non-resident ambbadador to Ireland to President Michael D. Higgins on Friday, July 13, 2018 in Dublin.

At the hearing, Ambbadador Ally thanked the President for Ireland's historic and ongoing engagement with Seychelles, particularly in the areas of nursing, education and tourism. He also briefed the President on political and social developments in Seychelles.

For his part, the Irish head of state congratulated Seychelles for its leading role and advocacy for the protection of the environment and the blue economy. President Higgins expressed confidence that relations between Ireland and Seychelles can be strengthened now that both countries have ambbadadors accredited to each other. He also extended warm greetings to the President and people of Seychelles and invited President Danny Faure to visit Ireland.

Ambbadador Ally also met with other government officials and discussed issues of mutual interest and areas of future collaboration between Seychelles and Ireland.

Note: Ambbadador Derick Ally was appointed Ambbadador of Seychelles in September 2014 and has been Seychelles High Commissioner to the United Kingdom since January 2017.
