OROMY REGION – KEY FINDINGS

LOCATION AND CAUSE OF DISPLACEMENT:

777,047 IDPs including 126,777 households in 459 displacement sites were identified in the Oromia region *. These figures represent an increase of 55,740 people (+ 7.73%), an increase of 8,550 households (+ 7.23%) and an increase of 39 sites (+ 9.29%) since the 10th cycle (March / April 2018). 71.68% of the sites were opened in 2017 and 13.3% opened in 2018. The conflict was the main cause of displacement for about 81% of the displaced population.

DEMOGRAPHICS: 51% of the displaced were women and 49% men. 59% were under 18 years old. 63% were over 60 years old

ABRI: 63 sites reported that more than 25% of households lived in shelters below regional and cultural standards.

WASH: Only 26 sites meet SPHERE standards for access to more than 15 liters of water per person per day. 215 (47%) displacement sites reported having no latrine

DIET, NUTRITION AND LIVELIHOOD: 74 sites (16%), representing 199,846 individuals, reported having no access to food. 77% of sites reported that IDPs did not have access to income-generating activities

HEALTH: Pneumonia was the main health issue in this data collection, with 134 sites reporting that.

EDUCATION: In 27% of the sites, 50% or less of the children on the site attend formal primary school.
Formal school education is available in 350 sites. COMMUNICATION: 49% of sites indicated that site management was the main source of information for IDPs, followed by the local leader in 26% of sites.
