Launch of the 12th Kilimanjaro Challenge – The Malta Independent

Over the past 11 years, more than € 720,000 have been raised through the challenge of ten projects in Kenya and Ethiopia, all orchestrated by the "Missionary Movement Jesus in Your Neighborhood". (VO / 0140), founded by the late father George Grima.

The founder of the Challenge, Keith Marshall, said that the projects that have been completed so far have greatly helped their respective communities. Projects funded by Kilimanjaro Challenge were; the construction of a school and convent in the Ethiopian village of Bulbula, a wing for a 3-in-1 project, a home for 100 physically disabled children, deaf and blind in Kenya, a clinic in Sakko, a kindergarten in Gambella, Dembidolo Region, Jemu Region and WushWush, Ethiopia

Austin Cachia, co-organizer of the KC, said the challenge this year is to raise € 90,000 to fund the completion a center for disabled children in Bonga, Ethiopia. This is a 1.2 million euros project that was launched by the p. George Grima, who sadly pbaded away in September 2017, has never had the opportunity to see the completion. For this reason, the project will be named in his honor.

Taryn Mamo Cefai, a member of the expedition that the team has been training since March and will be traveling to Kilimanjaro, Africa, on 24 December. After spending eight days on the mountain, the team will continue its trip to Ethiopia to inaugurate the project.

KC12 members will hold various events throughout the year to collect the necessary donations. The next event is a BBQ that will be held at the Hilton Hotel on the 31st July 2018.
