Meeting to discuss laboratory medicine planned for Abuja in December

The 2018 edition of the biennial conference of the African Society of Laboratory Medicine – ASLM2018 – will be held in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, from December 10 to 13, 2018.

The theme of this year's conference is: "Prevent and control the next pandemic: the role of the laboratory".

ASLM is an independent pan-African professional body that coordinates, mobilizes and mobilizes relevant stakeholders to improve access to world-clbad laboratory services. The body is also mandated to ensure the health of African communities.

This fourth edition of the biennial conference is expected to contribute to ASLM's Strategic Objectives:

Strengthen laboratory staff through training and certification

Transforming the quality of laboratory tests by recruiting laboratories in quality improvement programs to obtain accreditation according to international standards

Development of harmonized regulatory systems for diagnostic products as defined by the Global Harmonization Taskforce; 19659002] Establishment of a Network of National Public Health Reference Laboratories to Improve Early Detection of Diseases and Collaborative Research

ASLM will achieve these goals by working collaboratively with Governments, local and international organizations and the private sector.
