Nigerians celebrate the first local airline with an all-female crew

A Nigerian airline launched for the first time an all-female flight for its local lines in the country.

Air Peace began the all-female crew flights on Lagos-Abuja, Abuja-Owerri, Owerri-Abuja and Abuja-Lagos routes with Thursday, July 5, 2018.

The first flight took off from Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, a day after the airline unveiled its first female captain, Sinmisola Ajibola.

The team was congratulated by the Nigerians when they landed.

According to Air Peace Communication, the movement shows its commitment to gender equality and the promotion of Nigerian women in aviation.

In 2017, Air Zimbabwe made a historic trip when a flight crew powered solely by women from the capital, Harare to Victoria Falls. A few days later, Ethiopian Airlines flew the first exclusively female crew flight from Addis Ababa to Thailand
