KARACHI: Pakistan remembers the famous philanthropist and social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi on his second anniversary of death today ( Sunday)

Born in 1928, Edhi immigrated to Pakistan in 1947 with his family and dedicated his life to the poor.
After noticing that people in Pakistan were homeless, without drugs and without clothes. he begged people for donations. Edhi was able to convert a small room that he had into a dispensary that served the poor. Soon, people began to trust him and provide him with donations to help the poor, hungry and destitute in Pakistan.
The Edhi Foundation owns 2,400 ambulances and three air ambulances across the country. During the last days of his illness, Edhi said he preferred to be treated in Pakistan rather than abroad and deserved additional laurels from General Guinness World Records.
Thousands of people flocked to the Karachi National Stadium when he died to attend his funeral, which was attended by a guard by the army before it was put to rest.
