A Thai school will teach the Turkish language as part of its curriculum, said Thursday an official of the Yunus Emre Institute of Turkey (YEE)
. Altun, head of the YEE office in Kuala Lumpur, said he was happy that the Turkish language is being taught for the first time as a school subject in Thailand.
"Turkish courses will be taught as a compulsory course in the Integrated Islamic School in. At the end of April, the YEE Kuala Lumpur Office and the Thai School – Integrated Islamic School – in Pattani had signed a protocol in this respect.
According to the protocol 442 students of the school will follow courses in Turkish.
Named after a Turkish poet of the 13th century, the l 39; Yunus Emre Institute aims to promote Turkey through public and cultural diplomacy activities.
The main purpose of the institution is to build obligations of ven finality between Turkey and other countries so to increase cultural exchange.
With 55 offices abroad, the institute currently operates in more than 40 countries.
