In keeping with the lifestyle of the mini-SUV, an accessories brochure available on the internet reveals the many customization options available to a Suzuki Jimny buyer in the Japanese market.

Four packs of accessories are available: Survival, Offroad, Heritage and Revival. These packages add aesthetic enhancements to the fog lights, grille, door handles, exterior mirrors, roof rails and mudguards depending on the theme chosen. Stickers and 16-inch rim options are also available.

Additions are also available for interiors. These include seat covers, faux leather end caps, ambience lighting options and off-road centric accessories for protection against natural elements.

Functional improvements such as additional underbody protection, roof rails and roof bars can also be added. All of these customization options are also available on the Jimny Sierra.

The Jimny is offered in three trim levels in Japan – XG, XL and XC. Prices start at the equivalent of Rs 9.06 lakh for the Jimny and Rs 10.94 lakh for the Sierra.

The grille has a 5-slat design. It is flanked by circular headlights on each side. The headlamp housings have separate circular turn signals. The front bumper looks minimalist but functional and houses the fog lights and a prominent air intake. The flared wheel arches of the Jimny are covered with a black plastic coating.

The theme is also taken up in the interior. The dashboard has an overall design with separate housings for gauges. There is a 80s style square case for the touch screen, round vents and toggle switches. The style is quite reminiscent of Maruti Gypsy. In terms of features, the Jimny should come with similar levels of equipment seen on new Maruti Suzuki cars like the Swift and Baleno. So expect automatic weather control, automatic lights and windshield wipers, a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, among others.

The Suzuki Jimny will be available with a range of engine options. 1.2-liter petrol four-cylinder K-series and three-cylinder turbocharged 1-liter direct injection. The Japanese market car will be available with a unit of 660c to take advantage of the country's "kei" tax incentives. The new 1.5 liter petrol engine that debuts in the Ciaz should also make its way to the Jimny.
