ADDIS ABABA, July 16 – The World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday revealed the provision of medical supplies and medicines that will help treat more than 50,000 internally displaced Ethiopians for three months.
According to the WHO, medical support, which constitutes 50 Inter-Institutional Core Health Kits (IEHK) of drugs and medical supplies, will support the southern area of Ethiopia, Gedeo, in its response to health needs of displaced persons victims of inter-communal violence.
after the visit of the WHO representative in the area to badess the situation on the ground and ways to support the local government's efforts to address the immediate health needs of the more than 800,000 internally displaced persons hosted in different places in the area,
in Ethiopia Akpaka Kalu, after badessing the situation of IDPs, stressed the immediate need to improve the living conditions of displaced persons, including access to the 39, drinking water, sanitation and hygiene on PDI sites and conduct a vaccination campaign on the sites and in the host communities to avoid epidemics.
Various international aid organizations, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM), The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) recently called for swift action to support IDPs in Ethiopia, mainly due to intercommunity clashes in recent months.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said last week that nearly 1 million people are displaced and in need of urgent help, especially during the rainy season.
The United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) also released $ 15 million in community violence in Ethiopia.
