Ex-Colorado, Seahawks player T.J. Cunningham is fatally injured

AURORA, Colorado – A man shot dead in an argument over a parking space was a deputy director of Aurora Public Schools and a former football player from the University of Colorado recruited by the Seattle Seahawks.

Deborah Sherman, spokeswoman for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, told Anthony, "T.J.", 46 years old. Cunningham passed away on Monday.

According to the authorities, Marcus Johnson, 31, is charged with first degree murder. They said Johnson shot Cunningham Sunday in a parking lot between two schools.

The Hinkley High School website mentions Cunningham as deputy director.

Cunningham was catcher and defensive at college. He was a member of the Seahawks in 1996 before injuries ended his playing career.

University of Colorado Sports Director Rick George said Cunningham was an active alum and his death was a tragic loss.
