Vic Fangio says Urban Meyer told him that coaching in the NFL was “like playing in Alabama” every week.
The Denver coach relayed his conversation last weekend with the beleaguered Jacksonville Jaguars coach to illustrate a point about parity in the NFL.

Asked on Wednesday how his Broncos (2-0) would handle being a 10-and-a-half point favorite this weekend against the Jets (0-2), Fangio said the betting lines “don’t mean nothing for us. You know, it’s the NFL. “
Then he recounted his conversation with Meyer in the Broncos’ 23-13 victory in Jacksonville (0-2).

The Jaguars were toasted on social media for a post-game tweet on Sunday night containing a message from Meyer following the franchise’s 17th straight loss.
It read, “Hang on with us. We’re gonna get better. The only thing about Jacksonville and the 904, go sleep knowing there won’t be any band that will work harder to rock this thing.” “
Underneath that was a photo of the Jaguars players and coaches arm in arm with No.1 pick Trevor Lawrence in the middle.
Meyer was visibly absent from the photo.
The post encouraged a podcaster to respond, “Brother… it’s only week 2”.
Meyer experienced a difficult transition to the NFL after a 17-year career as a college head coach who won 85% of his games and three national championships.
He botched hiring two coordinators (Chris Doyle, Brian Schneider), invited Tim Tebow to training camp as a tight end, failed to improve on a bad offensive line in the offseason and made it into so Lawrence splits up some valuable first-team reps at training camp with a quarterback that’s no longer on the roster.
The Jaguars looked dysfunctional in a 37-21 loss to Houston during Meyer’s NFL coaching debut and when Southern California fired coach Clay Helton a day later, speculation swirled about the Meyer’s immediate future in Jacksonville.

Meyer responded last week by saying “there is no way” he would take the job of the Trojans and insisted he was in Jacksonville for the long haul.
The Jaguars host the undefeated Arizona Cardinals (2-0) on Sunday. The last time Meyer lost three straight games was in 2010, when his Florida Gators lost to Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State.
