Fantasian ends with the release of Part 2 on August 13

When Fantastic, a beautiful role-playing game by Final fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, debuted on Apple Arcade, it wasn’t really the full game. Instead, it has been described as the first part of a longer story. Now the conclusion of this story is almost upon us: the second part of Fantastic launches this Friday, August 13 as part of Arcade’s weekly update.

According to developer Mistwalker, the second half offers “between 40 and 60 hours for players to experience.” It also features 50 new handcrafted views to explore, along with 34 new songs from famous composer Nobuo Uematsu. (His work on the game is also currently streaming on Apple Music.)

In a statement, Sakaguchi said that:

The release of part 2 of Fantastic marks the end of the saga. It ended up being, quite unexpectedly, about double the volume of Part 1 and is more quest-oriented, giving players the ability to progress through the world at their own pace. Boss encounters are even more unique than before. On behalf of everyone on the development team, diorama artisans, and musical talent including Uematsu-san, I think it’s safe to say that we haven’t left anything on the table. We have carefully sculpted the experience preserving the “warmth” of the dioramas with all the attention to detail. I encourage everyone to experience this mysterious “emotional” energy, which is at the very heart of Fantastic.

Next to FantasticApple’s big update, Apple’s gaming service will also receive a brand new game on Friday called Word web. It is described as a “relaxing word puzzle game”, and it was co-developed by Aran Koning (who is part of the Sokpop Collective) and Adriaan de Jongh (best known for his work on Hidden people).
