DENVER, NC – Authorities have said that a Lincoln County father and young son who both went missing after the man picked up the boy from school have been found to safety in Georgia.

Investigators said Adrian Vancleave, 44, and his 4-year-old son Lincoln went missing Wednesday afternoon when Adrian picked up the boy from Denver Christian Academy.

Officials said they were supposed to meet the boy’s mother, Adrian’s wife, around 5 p.m. but never showed up. She told MPs her husband was diagnosed with cognitive impairment and had disappeared in the past, but never with her son.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office told Channel 9 on Thursday morning that the couple were found in Jackson County, Georgia. The Georgia Highway Patrol said the car the two men were in was spotted leaving I-85.

Authorities said the boy and his father were being assessed, but both appeared to be doing well and the boy’s mother was traveling to Georgia to pick them up.
