Despite some disturbing news yesterday, Stadia is still not going anywhere. Today it was confirmed that finally, EA is releasing its FIFA 21 mega-hit on Google Stadia next month.

In a press release released today, EA announced plans to expand FIFA 21 with a multi-year license extension, a greater free-to-play PC experience, and some mobile offerings in development. In that same press release, EA confirmed the launch of FIFA 21 on Google Stadia.

Today Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announced a multi-year UEFA license extension, ensuring that the pinnacle of club football remains exclusive to EA SPORTS. EA is expanding access to football video games with multiple mobile offerings under development and expanding the reach of FIFA Online 4title free to download on PC to potentially 80 million players in more than 15 new countries. Additionally, the franchise will launch on Stadia for the first time when EA SPORTS FIFA 21 is released on March 17 for Stadia.

This launch has been known for some time, as Google and EA confirmed that a FIFA game will be heading to Stadia almost a year ago. However, it’s great that we finally have a launch date to go with it. Notably, it comes as close as it gets for EA to miss its promised “Winter 2021” release window, as the season ends a few days later. This launch also places the game in the middle of the 2021 Champions League season, a few weeks away from the quarter-finals.

FIFA 21 was first released on October 6, 2020 on other platforms, putting Stadia’s release roughly six months before FIFA 22 arrives. On the other hand, that means sales are very likely. around the time of the game’s launch. For example, “Champions Edition” is currently only $ 20 on PlayStation (digital).

This is the third EA game to launch on Stadia, with previous launches including Jedi: Fallen Order and Madden NFL 21. Google and EA have previously teased at least two more titles coming to the platform but haven’t confirmed what games it would be.
