Square Enix has finally released a new remake trailer for Final Fantasy VII during Sony's presentation on Thursday's game state. Although the light is on new details, the video gave us another look at how the much-anticipated remake of the PS4 is being put together, and the publisher has now shared some additional information on the game
Following the State of Play show, Square Enix has issued a Japanese press release on the new remake trailer for Final Fantasy VII. According to Siliconera, the press release reaffirms that the remake will be a "multipart production" and that more information on the game will be revealed in June, likely at the Square Enix E3 press conference.
The remake of Final Fantasy VII was first announced at Sony's press conference on E3 2015, but since then information about the game is scarce. One aspect that Square Enix confirmed shortly after the revelation of the game, however, was that it would be released in installments. The company then clarified this remark stating that the remake would consist of several complete games rather than a series of smaller episodes.
"It will be essentially a complete game for every part of the multi-part series," producer Yoshinori Kitase told Game Informer in 2016, comparing production to Final Fantasy XIII. "In XIII, each slice told the story from a different angle – it was a bit like approaching an unknown territory.
"While in Final Fantasy VII Remake, we already have a pre-existing story, so it would not really make sense if it's not included in a multi-part series … So, if we only look at each of these parts, one part should fit the scale of a Final Fantasy XIII game. "
After Thursday's presentation, the official Twitter Final Fantasy The account shared a message from the remake director of Final Fantasy VII, Tetsuya Nomura, reiterating that further details on the game are about to arrive. "Most plans are already in place before launch, so please wait a little longer until we can post more information next month," the message said.
The remake of Final Fantasy VII still has no release date, but it seems that the editor is preparing to finally pull the curtain. The Square Enix press conference on E3 will take place on Monday, June 10 at 6pm (Paris time) / 9pm (Eastern time) – the time slot of the E3 briefing time from Sony. Of course, the company does not use this niche this year, because it announced in November that it would give up the E3 2019.
