Microsoft wants hackers to be more involved in discovering vulnerabilities in its flagship cloud service, Microsoft Azure. The software giant will reward anyone who hackers Azure and discover flaws in the system. However, the company will take legal action if it detects a malicious attack. Needless to say, this initiative is part of Microsoft's strategy to grow its cloud business.
The concept is not new. White hackers are involved in finding vulnerabilities in Windows, Office, and other successful Microsoft products. And since Microsoft Azure is quite popular and currently occupies the second place on Amazon, these hackers are also trying to hack it, but according to Microsoft, the number is not impressive and it wants more and more people to join group, which will hasten the process of correcting these defects in Azure.
Steve Dispensa, general manager of cloud security and artificial intelligence at Microsoft, said: "The idea that we are smarter than the attackers is a clever myth – they know before us where the weak spot is. "
