Finneas marked Donald Trump’s ‘dismissal’ with his new song ‘Where the Poison Is’, which the singer released hours after the 2020 presidential election was called for President-elect Joe Biden.
“You’re fired,” Finneas tweeted, quoting Trump. The apprentice slogan; “Where the Poison Is” criticizes the future administration and its handling of the coronavirus, with the accompanying visual showing a crumbling White House.
“When all my friends get sick, it’s on the president / When all my friends get sick, it’s on his government,” he sings in the chorus. “Take me to where the poison is / To put a face on what’s poisonous / To give him a taste of his meds / There’s a snake that thinks it’s the president.”
Finneas later adds on the dark trail, “Once we put it all behind us / we can go straight back to the school shooting in a climate crisis.”
In recent months, Finneas has also released new topical tracks like his protest anthem “What They’ll Say About Us” and the dreaded internet “Can’t Wait to Be Dead”.
After Biden’s victory on Saturday, Finneas’ sister Billie Eilish was among many artists to use social media to celebrate the victory.
