The ninth iteration of the Trail Blazers roster under top executive Neil Olshey is perhaps his best.
With two trades, five free agent signings and a draft pick, Olshey last week made the Blazers deeper, more versatile and – theoretically at least – better defensive.
There are positional battles to be won and rotational philosophies to be formed, but at first glance it looks like the Blazers could start a formation from Damian Lillard to point guard, CJ McCollum to shooter, Derrick Jones Jr. to small forward, Robert Covington in front and Jusuf Nurkic in center.
A second unit could feature Anfernee Simons, Gary Trent Jr., Rodney Hood, Carmelo Anthony and Enes Kanter. And when Zach Collins recovers from left ankle surgery in September, he’ll add depth to the front and center, just like newcomer Harry Giles.
