Florida man arrested after crashing at airport gate, entering cockpit of Coast Guard plane: Sheriff

A Florida man faces multiple charges after he allegedly walked through a security fence at a Tampa-area airport and entered the cockpit of a Coast Guard C-130 plane on Saturday morning, officials said.

Hamilton Moreno, 36, is accused of leading MPs in a runway chase at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport before 5 a.m. ET in a vehicle that was reported stolen the night before , the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

(The suspect drove MPs to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport in a chase across the runway in an allegedly stolen car before climbing into the cockpit of a Coast Guard C-130.)

Moreno was arrested after he allegedly walked through a Coast Guard security barrier, left the car in a hangar and climbed into the empty C-130, the sheriff’s department said.

The suspect was held in Pinellas County Jail for flight and escape, trespassing, auto theft, routine traffic violation, burglary and two counts of criminal mischief.

His bond was set at $ 24,150.
