A mother in Jacksonville, Florida lost his two sons to Covid-19 within 12 hours – and thinks they would still be alive if they hadn’t refused the vaccine.

“It’s a parent’s worst nightmare,” Lisa Brandon said News4Jax. “The only reason I’m doing this is to spread the word, please get the shot.”

Ms Brandon says she and her sons – Aaron Jaggi, 35, and Free Jaggi, 41 – all caught the virus at the same time in July. But she alone was vaccinated.

Mrs. Brandon had a mild case. Aaron and Free didn’t.

As her sons’ condition worsened, Ms Brandon took the two men to hospital. There they were rushed to the intensive care unit and treated for double pneumonia. Both were eventually put on ventilators.

Free died on August 12, and Aaron died on August 13, less than 12 hours later.

“They never made it home,” Ms Brandon said in tears News4Jax.

The mother-of-three – whose other son died five years ago – says she tried to persuade Aaron and Free to get the shot, but the two refused.

“I think they would be alive today if they had pulled it off,” Ms. Brandon said. “I wish I could have had them done. And now it is too late.

Three Covid-19 vaccines are widely available in the United States, produced by the companies Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. All three have been shown to be very safe and effective, and Pfizer recently received full approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration.

Ms Brandon, who lived with her sons, says she must now leave her home. One of her friends, Brittany Pequignot, started a GoFundMe to help him pay his bills.

“I know this last year and a half has been a difficult time for all of us and some of us have lost people to Covid, but Lisa has suffered more than most,” Ms. Pequignot wrote. “Having to bury three children in one lifetime is unimaginable. “
